Jeff's Lock and Key has a basic philosophy of Do it Old School, give the customer a fair deal and be on time. We strive to reach these goals every day. As a local locksmith we hear alot of bad stories regarding un savory business practices by some of our competitors, here's a few tips to protect your self from the predators in the industry.
  • Always ask the most important question when calling a Locksmith, What are the total charges going to be"? Any honest locksmith will tell you pretty much the total cost involved with the service. If they will not or can't it could be that they will over inflate their charges on you for ridicules reasons..
  • It's been our experience that you do not want to deal with any company that appears local in their advertising but the first thing they ask you is What is your Zip Code? Most often you will be talking to an out of state boiler room, they ask for your Zip Code so they can look up somebody in their network of people. These people will show up to your location in un marked vehicles instead of an equipped locksmith vehicle with no visible markings on them in fact many if not at all with out of state license plates. The dispatcher when pressed will give you a crazy price for the service call but after the person for example comes to un lock your car he or she will present you with a bill with a 2 to 3 hundred percent markup on it then threaten you with a Theft of Service charge if you refuse to pay the bill.
  • If you are worried about choosing a locksmith call the Denver BBB and find out what their standing in the community is, they receive complaints weekly about these rouge locksmiths
  • You get what you pay for in this business, if you find a really cheap like $19.95 and up to re key your house deal be aware, when choosing you don't have to go with the highest priced one but watch out for the cheap locksmiths as well, when they are willing to give up several dollars to get your business they will figure out other ways to make up their money.
